Goalkeeping

This is one of the most important positions in the game.  A goalkeeper must be agile, unafraid of the ball and be able to follow the play of the game at all times.
A goalkeeper must learn how to cut down a shooters angle.  The best way to learn this is to put another player in the goal and have the goalkeeper see how by bringing the player forward, they cut down the sight of the goal.  This should be done head on and also from each side.  Have the players stand in the centre of the goal with the goalkeeper standing on the 18 yard box.  The player then moves forward slowly and the goalkeeper will notice how the sight of the goal is cut down.

The goalkeeper must learn how to catch the ball and once caught bring it into the chest area for safekeeping.

When stopping a shot on goal, keep your body in the way of the ball; if the ball is not caught it will hit your body and then you can get ahold of it.  Do not just rely on your hands to stop the ball.
When a corner kick is being taken, the goal keeper should position themselves at the far side of the goal as it is easier to move forward then backward.

The goalkeeper should direct a player to stand inside the goal up against each post; this will cut down on the area the goalkeeper has to cover.

On either a direct free kick or indirect, the goalkeeper shall direct the players where to stand in order to cut down on the opponents sight of the goal.

On a penalty kick, the goalkeeper shall decide which way to move in order to save the shot.

The goalkeeper must be on the goal line but may move sideways prior to the kick being taken.

The goalkeeper may use their hands at any time after an opposing player has touched the ball however, they may not use their hands when the ball is passed back to them by the feet of one of their own players.

If their own player heads it or chests it back they may then use their hands on the ball.

When the goalkeeper has the ball in their hands they may either kick it from the hands or drop it to the ground to kick it.  They may also throw the ball out to another team mate.
